Comprehensive Work Incentives Training
Benefits Planning services is a vital component for successful
employment for beneficiaries receiving public disability benefits
Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), Supplemental Security
Income (SSI), Medicare and/or Medi-Cal. According to the latest
statistics the majority of persons with disabilities are unemployed and
living below or near the poverty level. Many people desire to
work, but due to inaccurate information about the relationship between
employment and public disability benefits do not reach their full
potential thus limiting their self-sufficiency and financial
independence.
Crossroads offers two benefits planning training options:
Option 1: A one-day introduction and
comprehensive overview of current work benefits planning and management
strategies. This full-day training reviews the work incentives
pertaining to SSDI, SSI, Medicare, Medi-Cal and other public benefits
such as subsidized housing. In addition to the formal
presentation, the training utilizes case examples to demonstrate the
relevancy and application of available work incentives.

Option 2: A second day of training is
available to community providers and consumers who will have an active
role in the delivery of benefits planning services. Attendees will
gain a greater understanding of benefits planning strategies and the
application of work incentives in more complex situations.
About the Trainer:
Dee
Gavaldon is a Program Manager with Crossroads Employment Services and
the Site Supervisor of the Citrus Heights Career Center operated by
Crossroads. Dee has over 20 years experience in the provision of
Social Security work incentives and manages Social Security
Administration funded Work Incentives Planning and Assistance (WIPA)
contracts serving beneficiaries in 19 counties in Northern California.
