Crossroads offers Prevocational Workshops to adults who are enrolled in a Sacramento Works Career Center and are eligible for WIA (Workforce Investment Act) funding.

Prevocational Workshops are designed to provide a solid foundation for individuals to reenter the workforce. Workshops are an intensive 20 hours of instruction and group participation and address a wide variety of topics of benefit to job seekers.

Topics include, but are not limited to dressing on a budget, interpersonal relations on the job, improving organizational skills, time management strategies, utilizing family and community supports, and evaluating your work history, skills and interest to assist with determining career options.

• Developing Good Worker Traits.
• Career Exploration.
• Interpersonal Communication.
• Developing Ongoing Supports.

Specialized Services provides short-term workshops to address specific topics for the job seeker. The goal of Specialized Services are to address barriers to obtaining employment and to gain information that will assist in successful job retention. Each workshop is scheduled for two to four hours and addresses the following topics:

Vocational Assessment

• Evaluation of employment preferences, skills, strengths and barriers.
• Utilizes formal assessments to evaluate transferable skills.
• Assists in the evaluation of employment and educational goals.

Counseling Activities

• Assist with linkage to community resources.
• Provides follow along services to promote employment goal.
• Assessment of barriers that impact employment.

Information/Self Help Workshops

• Assessment of job readiness and meeting employers' expectations.
• Ex-offender workshops.
• Relationship between public assistance, disability benefits and employment.
• Developing time management, money management and organizational skills.
